This device is intended to enable data acquisition from electrometers to control systems with more advanced protocols.

Electrometers are usually based on counting of impulses. This approach often leads to loss of data during outages/restarts of control systems or disconnections. Also, there are often problems with conversion constants.

These problems are mitigated when you directly read OBIS registers from electrometers and store them in a gateway.

Gateway is entirely standalone and provides these functions:

  • periodically reads 1-16 registers from 1-32 electrometers on one RS485 line
  • optionally supports input from pulse electrometers
  • registers can be different for each electrometer
  • electrometers can be from various manufacturers and can communicate with different speeds
  • registers read from electrometers are then provided as Modbus registers (32 bit)
  • if value contains decimal point it is converted to UINT (50.15 Hz -> 5015)
  • all values have timestamp with time of reading
  • state of communication is also provided in the Modbus registers, including time needed for one read cycle
  • it is possible to enable time synchronization of electrometers with gateway’s internal clock
  • it is possible to connect GPS and synchronize internal clock with GPS (uses GMT time)
  • configuration and firmware upgrades are done with provided application

  • Requires 6-30V DC power supply, consumption is around 3W

  • Operating temperatures -20°C to +60°C

Configuration software

  • Configuration and firmware upgrades are done through provided Windows application. Here you can set all gateway parameters. You can also observe all the electrometers values in real-time here.

You can set these parameters:

  • Current time, parameters of time synchronization
  • Baudrate and address for Modbus (RS485)
  • IP parameters
  • IEC protocol parameters – address, baudrate, password, par1, par2,…
  • pro IEC rozhraní: adresu, rychlost, heslo, par1, par2…

Configuration is saved as XML file and can be saved/loaded from file. It is possible to change all parameters during gateway runtime.
